I've got some projects now that render much faster in newer versions of AE than in the pre-CC 2015 versions. Like, I did appreciate the speed increase on certain projects that feature would give you, but don't kid yourself that it was this great wonderland. The wrong expression, effect, or plugin, and it would either glitch or it would say, "incompatible expression or effect, reverting to single frame rendering" (or something like that). There are now things in AE that do render across multiple cores without doing weird back end hacks like firing up multiple instances of AE.Īnd, of course, all of the GPU-accelerated effects are massively multithreaded (and impossible to work with the old render multiple frames simultaneously feature).Īlso, don't forget how buggy the old render multiple frames simultaneously feature could be. and you'll see your whole processor light up. Fire up the C4D renderer, the grain effects, Camera Shake Deblur, Content-Aware Fill, etc. In the newer versions of AE, the renderer and the UI are actually running on separate threads. That's NOT the same as being truly multithreaded. The old version would spin up multiple instances of AE in the background to render multiple frames simultaneously. Newer versions of AE are actually a lot MORE multithreaded than the old version was. It gives you "render multiple frames simultaneously" back.
